Turning, Twisting

This series of three paintings is inspired by a very important childhood activity: spinning around in circles on the lawn until you were so dizzy you ultimately fell in the grass.

Each little girl is caught mid-twirl against a loose, abstracted background of blues and purples. The figures may be small, but the feeling is big. There’s movement, freedom and that slightly wild sensation of being completely out of control while still perfectly safe in your own backyard.

These paintings are a little nod to those carefree moments when the only thing on your agenda was seeing how fast you could spin before the world turned upside down.
